Why is it important that Christ is our mediator?

Answered in 2 sources

Christ serves as our mediator because, being sinless, He can bring us into a right relationship with God, fulfilling the requirements of divine justice.

The importance of Christ as our mediator is rooted in His sinlessness and perfect obedience to the law. According to Hebrews 9:24, Christ entered heaven itself to appear in the presence of God for us, highlighting His role as our great high priest. In our own sinfulness, we cannot approach a holy God; we need a mediator who is both God and man. Christ fulfills this role perfectly, standing between us and God, thus ensuring that we are accepted not on our own merit, but through His perfect righteousness. This mediatorial role is essential because it provides the basis for our reconciliation with God, as He put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
