Why is it important to approach God with a sense of worship?

Answered in 1 source

Worship establishes our relationship with God, recognizing His sovereignty even before we ask for help.

Approaching God with worship is critical because worship acknowledges His authority and holiness independent of our circumstances. As seen in accounts of those who approached Jesus, such as the leper and the Syrophoenician woman, we see that genuine worship precedes the request for mercy or healing. This worshipful posture reminds us that God is worthy simply because of who He is, not what He does. Until we settle the issue of His worthiness, our approach to Him remains shallow; true intimacy with God begins when we worship Him for His character, laying our requests before Him with the confidence that comes from reverence.
