Why is it important to ask God for His gifts?

Asking God for His gifts is an essential aspect of the Christian life because it acknowledges our reliance on Him and our need for His intervention in our lives. Matthew 7:11 states, 'If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?'
