Why is it important to be reconciled before approaching God?

Answered in 1 source

Being reconciled to God through faith in Christ is essential for our offerings to be accepted.

The importance of being reconciled to God before approaching Him is emphasized in Matthew 5:23-24, where Jesus instructs that if one remembers their brother has something against them, they must first seek reconciliation. This symbolizes our need to address the ultimate offense against God, which is our sin and unbelief. We cannot draw near to God with our offerings if we are not in a right relationship with Him. Reconciliation opens the way for our sacrifices, prayers, and expressions of worship to be accepted. The sacrifice of Christ clears the way for us, allowing us to come boldly to the throne of grace as stated in Hebrews 4:16.
