Why is it important to believe in Christ's righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in Christ's righteousness is crucial because it is through His righteousness that believers are justified before God.

In sovereign grace theology, the imputed righteousness of Christ is a vital doctrine for salvation. According to 2 Corinthians 5:21, God made Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. This righteousness is not based on our works but is granted to us through faith. It assures us that when God sees us, He sees Christ's perfect obedience and righteousness covering our sins. This is foundational for assurance in the believer's life and the hope of eternal life – the ultimate expression of God’s grace towards His elect.
