Why is it important to believe in the true God?

Answered in 1 source

Believing in the true God is essential for salvation, as it ensures faith is directed toward the only one who can truly deliver.

Believing in the true and living God, as revealed in Scripture, is vital for authentic faith. This faith is not just an abstract belief or faith in faith; it is centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. The uniqueness of the God who is just and merciful offers assurance that our faith is correctly placed where deliverance comes from. In Isaiah 45:21, God invites His people to trust in Him for salvation. To worship any other conception of God diminishes the power of His saving work and leads to a reliance on performances rather than on the finished work of Christ, thereby undermining true salvation. Thus, understanding and believing in the true God is foundational for genuine faith and rightful worship.
