Why is it important to beware of the traditions of men?

In Colossians 2:8, Paul states, "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." This warning emphasizes the danger of adhering to human traditions that can distract and dilute the gospel of Jesus Christ.
