Why is it important to examine our faith?

Answered in 3 sources

Examining our faith ensures we are not deceived about our relationship with Christ and validates our calling.

The call to examine our faith is vital for every believer. Paul encourages self-examination in 2 Corinthians 13:5 by urging the Corinthians to test themselves to see if they are in the faith. This self-examination helps guard against self-deception; many may outwardly profess faith yet lack a true and vital relationship with Christ. As we reflect upon our hearts and our actions in light of Scripture, we can discern whether our faith is genuine and thus ensure that our calling and election are sure. This practice is essential for spiritual growth and for maintaining a humble posture before God.
