Why is it important to examine our faith regularly?

Answered in 1 source

Regular examination of our faith is vital as the heart is deceitful, Satan is a deceiver, and our thoughts do not align with God's.

Examining our faith is crucial for three primary reasons. First, as Jeremiah points out, the heart is exceedingly deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9). Without examination, we might trust our own feelings that can mislead us about our spiritual condition. Second, we face an adversary in Satan, who employs cunning tactics to lead us away from the truth. Paul cautions us about false prophets and their subtle deceptions (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Lastly, our thoughts are not naturally aligned with God's thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). Recognizing this truth helps us understand the importance of relying on Scripture, allowing it to guide our comprehension of faith and truth. Hence, regular self-examination, informed by God’s Word, is essential to ensure that our profession of faith represents a genuine relationship with Christ.
