Why is it important to examine our motives when praying?

In James 4:3, the apostle explains that prayers rooted in wrong motives are destined to go unanswered. This emphasizes the need for self-examination in discerning why we pray and what we hope to achieve. If our prayers are aimed solely at gratifying our worldly desires, we treat God as a servant to fulfill our whims rather than seeking to worship Him as Lord.
