Why is it important to guard against false teachers?

Answered in 1 source

Guarding against false teachers is vital to maintain the purity of the Gospel and our faith.

The Apostle Paul warns in Philippians 3:2 about false teachers referred to as 'dogs' and 'evil workers' who distort the Gospel. These individuals often try to add to the finished work of Christ by saying that believers must adhere to the law or rituals for salvation. Such teachings undermine the grace of God and can lead the faithful away from the true Gospel, which proclaims that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. It is essential for believers to be aware of these errors to remain rooted in the truth of the Gospel and the security found in Christ's righteousness, rather than being misled into works-based righteousness.
