Why is it important to have an active faith in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Active faith in Christ is vital for assurance of salvation and to overcome sin.

An active faith in Christ is essential not only for assurance of salvation but also for the transformation of life. Scripture encourages believers to trust wholly in Jesus, as seen in the promise of John 3:16, where those who believe are assured of eternal life. Trusting in Christ is not a mere intellectual assent but involves a personal reliance on Him for deliverance from sin and spiritual death. An authentic faith dynamically engages with the Gospel, encouraging repentance and a desire to live in accordance with God's will. Without such an active faith, individuals risk being like the subjects of the kingdom, who may appear religious but lack genuine heart transformation. A living faith fuels the believer's journey, gifts them assurance, and motivates them towards holy living.
