Why is it important to love fellow believers?

Answered in 2 sources

Loving fellow believers is essential as it reflects one’s love for God, as stated in 1 John 4:20.

In 1 John 4:20, the Apostle makes a profound connection between love for God and love for others, specifically fellow believers. He states, 'If a man says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar.' This bold declaration highlights that authentic love for God will manifest as love for those whom God loves. The relational dynamics established by God necessitate that loving Him cannot be separated from loving His people. When believers fail to love one another, it calls into question their claims of loving God. Hence, demonstrating love within the community of faith is both a reflection of true relationship with God and a vital sign of being in fellowship with Him.
