Why is it important to not trust in our works for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Trusting in our works for salvation leads to self-righteousness, while true salvation is found in relying solely on Christ.

In the sermon, Paul cautions against relying on human efforts or religious practices for acceptance with God. Philippians 3:3 highlights that true worship is conducted in the spirit, not through outward ceremonies or human achievements. When a person aligns their confidence in works, it leads to self-righteousness and spiritual blindness. Paul himself experienced this, proclaiming that his accomplishments were 'dung' compared to knowing Christ (Philippians 3:8). It’s only through acknowledging our helplessness and turning to the righteousness of Christ that we find true salvation and peace with God.
