Why is it important to preach Christ in our messages?

Answered in 1 source

Preaching Christ is essential because all of Scripture points to Him and He is the source of our salvation.

In Acts 18, Aquila and Priscilla took Apollos aside to expound to him the way of God more perfectly, which included the importance of Christ as the focal point of all teaching. Aquila emphasized that every verse of Scripture has a road leading to Jesus Christ. This principle is foundational in Reformed theology, where the proclamation of Christ's work—His life, death, resurrection, and sovereignty—is paramount. When messages are focused on methods or theological points without Christ, they risk leading individuals away from the true gospel. The priority of preaching Christ ensures that hearers understand not only the doctrine but the person behind it—Jesus, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.
