Why is it important to receive Christ as Lord?

Accepting Christ as Lord signifies that we recognize His sovereignty and authority over us. In Acts 2:36, Peter declares, 'Let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.' This acknowledgment compels us to submit and obey His will. True lordship means we rely on Him for guidance and strength in our daily living. Without acknowledging Him as Lord, we risk falling into self-reliance, which was the struggle of the Laodicean church in Revelation 3:17–18, where Christ warns against complacency and lukewarmness.
