Why is it important to recognize our sinfulness as Christians?

Understanding our sinfulness is vital as it leads us to acknowledge that we cannot be righteous in our own strength. In Matthew 9:12-13, Jesus states that He came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. This reveals that recognizing our fallen state is the first step toward experiencing His mercy and grace.
