Why is it important to rely on God's counsel?

Answered in 1 source

Relying on God's counsel is important because it leads to wisdom, protection, and the fulfillment of His divine purposes in our lives.

The significance of relying on God's counsel cannot be overstated. In Proverbs 20:24, it states, 'Man's goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?' This emphasizes that our understanding is limited, and we need divine guidance to navigate life's complexities. When David faced the rebellion of Absalom, he prayed for God to turn Ahithophel's counsel into foolishness (2 Samuel 15:31), showing his reliance on God's direction. God's wisdom often contradicts human reasoning, and in 1 Corinthians 1:18, we learn that 'the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.' Trusting in God's counsel provides not just wisdom, but it also aligns us with His will and protects us from deception. By surrendering to His guidance, we can experience the fullness of life He desires for us.
