Why is it important to understand God's law in relation to salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding God's law is vital as it reveals our sinfulness and the need for Christ's perfect righteousness.

God's law is an essential aspect of salvation because it reflects His character and reveals the standard of righteousness required for salvation. As stated in Galatians, those who try to be justified by the law are under a curse because no one can perfectly obey it (Galatians 3:10). The law shows us our sin and need for a Savior, setting the stage for Christ, who fulfilled the law perfectly. According to Matthew 5:17, Christ came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it, which underscores that only through Him can we attain the righteousness that exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees.
