Why is it important to understand human depravity?

The doctrine of human depravity teaches that all humanity is affected by sin, leaving us unable to seek or respond to God without His intervention. This reality is evident throughout Scripture, where it asserts that 'there is none righteous, no, not one' (Romans 3:10). Recognizing the depth of our depravity leads to an understanding of our need for regeneration by the Holy Spirit. It is only through God's merciful choice and sovereign will that we can experience true spiritual awakening, enabling us to respond to the gospel and embrace Christ as our Savior.
