Why is it important to understand our sin nature?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding our sin nature helps us recognize our need for Christ and His grace in overcoming fear and doubt.

Recognizing our sin nature is pivotal in understanding our desperation for grace. As Romans 3:23 states, 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.' This awareness brings humility and reliance on Christ, who is our advocate and savior. When we see how our old nature is inclined towards fear and vengeance, we can better appreciate the grace extended to us in Christ. Joseph’s brothers serve as a reminder that we can easily slide into fear and doubt, but acknowledging our sin drives us closer to Christ, the only one who can deliver us from that nature and fill us with His peace.
