Why is it important to understand the concept of regeneration?

Answered in 1 source

Regeneration is crucial because it signifies the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life, enabling them to truly know and worship God.

Regeneration is the work of the Holy Spirit whereby a person is made alive in Christ and empowered to respond to God’s call. This concept is essential in distinguishing between mere religious reformation and true spiritual renewal. As articulated in John 3:3, 'Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.' Regeneration, therefore, is fundamental because it ensures that believers don't simply adopt a form of godliness or engage in outward acts of piety without inner transformation. In today's context, many profess faith while lacking the genuine experience of regeneration, which leads to a distorted understanding of salvation and leaves them spiritually empty, seeking fulfillment in broken cisterns instead of the living God.
