Why is it important to understand the holiness of God?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding God's holiness is crucial as it shapes our worship and recognition of our need for a Savior.

The holiness of God is foundational to understanding who He is. In Isaiah 6, we see the seraphim declaring, 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.' This aspect of God's character emphasizes His purity and separateness from sin. For believers, acknowledging God’s holiness instills a deep reverence and encourages humility, reminding us that we cannot approach God on our own merits. Instead, we come solely through faith in the finished work of Christ, who reconciles us to a holy God, enabling us to worship Him correctly. Without grasping His holiness, our understanding of God's justice, grace, and love remains incomplete.
