Why is it important to understand the role of the Holy Spirit in our acceptance with God?

Answered in 1 source

Understanding the Holy Spirit's role is essential because He instructs us on how to approach God and makes us acceptable through Christ.

The role of the Holy Spirit in accepting us before God is integral to sovereign grace theology. Just as Rebekah guided Jacob in how to receive Isaac's blessing, the Holy Spirit instructs believers in coming to the Father through Christ. The Spirit communicates the demands of the Father and provides the faith needed to grasp the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice. Romans 8:14 states, 'For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.' The Spirit's work involves regenerating the believer, granting assurance and the ability to approach God with confidence, fully wrapped in the righteousness of Christ.
