It is crucial to watch over our spiritual lives to avoid the distractions that lead us away from Christ and spiritual death.

The call to watch over our spiritual lives is imperative because, as described in Revelation 3:2, we are to 'be watchful and strengthen the things which remain.' Vigilance in our walk with Christ helps us remain focused on Him amidst the distractions of the world. The devil's goal is to deviate us by enticing us with nearly important things that draw us away from our commitment to Christ. Without vigilance, we risk losing sight of our purpose and can find ourselves spiritually dead, much like the church at Sardis, which had lost its vibrancy while maintaining a facade of life.
