Why is it impossible for man to be saved without God's grace?

Answered in 1 source

Without God's grace, it is impossible for man to turn to God because our nature is inherently sinful (John 6:44).

The doctrine of total depravity teaches that without God's grace, man is unable to come to Christ. John 6:44 states, 'No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him.' This means that, left to ourselves, we are spiritually blind and dead, and we cannot even desire to seek God. Our sinful nature makes us resistant to the gospel and blind to spiritual truths. God's grace is what draws us to Him, enabling our hearts to respond to the call of salvation. This understanding helps to eradicate any notion that individuals can contribute to their own salvation apart from divine intervention.
