Why is it necessary to ask God for our needs?

Answered in 1 source

Asking God for our needs acknowledges our dependence on Him for spiritual sustenance and guidance.

Christ teaches us to ask God for our daily bread in prayer because it serves as an important acknowledgment of our need for Him. In Luke 11:3, when we ask, 'Give us this day our daily bread,' we are not only requesting physical sustenance but also recognizing Christ as the true bread of life. This asking is an expression of our total dependency on God and a declaration of our belief that He alone can meet our needs. Furthermore, it demonstrates humility and a recognition of our sinfulness, allowing us to continually seek His forgiveness and guidance in our lives, thus emphasizing the relational aspect of our faith.
