Why is it said that Christ is the one thing needful?

Answered in 1 source

Christ is called the one thing needful because He alone offers eternal life and spiritual satisfaction.

In the Gospel accounts, when Christ mentioned that Mary chose the one thing needful, He was referring to the necessity of a relationship with Him. This underscores the entirety of the Gospel message; the only essential need for humanity is salvation through Jesus Christ, as no other pursuits or religious efforts can fulfill our deepest spiritual longing. The world may present various distractions that appear significant, yet they ultimately provide no lasting satisfaction. Believers are called to focus solely on Christ, who is our life and the source of all legitimate hope and fulfillment.
