Why is it stated that Christ saves and does not help us save ourselves?

Answered in 1 source

The Gospel teaches that Christ saves sinners, not by helping them save themselves, but by fully accomplishing salvation.

The purpose of Christ's coming is outlined clearly in 1 Timothy 1:15, where it states that He came to save sinners. This indicates a definitive action rather than an assisting role. The grace of God does not merely make salvation possible but is a powerful force that actualizes it. Titus 3:5 reinforces this by stating that salvation is not by works of righteousness that we have done but according to His mercy. This signifies that our salvation is entirely dependent on Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection, rather than any merit or effort on our part.
