Why is it unwholesome to talk about ailments?

Answered in 1 source

Talking about ailments can cultivate selfishness and negativity, detracting from a spirit of gratitude.

Constantly recounting ailments not only burdens others but also fosters an unhealthy focus on self. The Bible encourages believers to bear one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2), but a heart consumed with complaints does not reflect this kindness. Instead of dwelling on negative experiences, we are called to encourage one another by speaking of God's faithfulness in our lives. Focusing on our complaints can lead to a cycle of misery that affects not only ourselves but also those around us, distracting from the blessings we ought to share.
