Why is it wrong for Christians to fear man?

Answered in 1 source

Christians are warned against fearing man because it demonstrates a lack of trust in God's sovereignty and power.

The Scriptures caution believers against fearing man because such fear detracts from a proper fear of God. In Matthew 10:28, Jesus instructs His disciples not to fear those who can kill the body but are unable to kill the soul. This teaching reinforces the understanding that God's power far surpasses that of any human. When Christians yield to fear of man, they are essentially placing their trust in human strength rather than resting in the sovereignty and security that God provides. Fear of man can lead to compromise and a failure to stand firm in faith. In contrast, fearing God ensures that believers remain anchored in truth and bold in sharing the Gospel, knowing that God holds ultimate authority over all (Isaiah 41:10).
