Why is it wrong to rely on the law for sanctification?
Answered in 1 source
Relying on the law for sanctification leads to bondage and self-righteousness, diverting us from the grace and spirit of God that truly sanctifies (Galatians 5:1).
The Apostle Paul warns against relying on the law for sanctification, as attempting to achieve holiness through the law results in a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1). This reliance can produce self-righteousness, causing believers to judge one another harshly based on their perceived adherence to the law. Instead, the believer is called to walk in the Spirit, which provides genuine sanctification and empowerment to bear fruit unto God (Romans 8:13-14). The law reveals sin but does not have the power to make one holy; it binds us rather than setting us free. The fruit produced comes through grace, not the letter of the law.
