Why is Jesus called the life?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is called the life because He provides spiritual life to His people, sustaining them now and forever.

In the phrase 'I am the resurrection and the life,' Jesus identifies Himself not only as the one who resurrects but also as the very essence of life itself. This means that spiritual life is found in Him alone. According to Scripture, all who trust in Christ are granted new life, characterized by a relationship with God and a transformation that arises from faith in Him. Moreover, this life extends beyond mere existence; it entails a deep, abiding relationship with the Savior, resulting in joy, peace, and fulfillment both now and into eternity. Hence, to know Christ is to possess life, as He is the source of all that is essential for spiritual vitality.
