Why is Jesus called the overcomer?

Jesus is recognized as the overcomer due to His victory over the ultimate enemies of mankind: sin, death, and the devil. In John 16:33, He declares, 'I have overcome the world,' underscoring His triumph during His earthly ministry and through His redemptive work on the cross. This victory is crucial for believers, as it ensures our own victory through our union with Him. He has not only secured our eternal salvation but has also provided the means for us to overcome in our daily struggles. The apostle John accentuates this in 1 John 5:4, stating, 'For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world.'
