Why is Jesus considered a prophet?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is considered a prophet because He spoke the very words of God and fulfilled the prophetic role as foretold in Scripture (Deuteronomy 18:15).

In the role of a prophet, Jesus was the ultimate messenger of God, as indicated in Deuteronomy 18:15, where Moses prophesied of a prophet like himself whom the people should hear. Jesus perfectly fulfills this role by conveying God's message and His will. His teachings, miracles, and the authority with which He spoke demonstrated that He was indeed the Prophet sent from God. Malachi 3:1 also points to the preparation for this coming prophet, establishing direct continuity between God’s messages through the prophets of old and the disclosures of Jesus. This confirms Jesus not only as a prophet but as the quintessential Prophet who reveals the heart of God to mankind.
