Why is Jesus considered the faithful high priest?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is the faithful high priest because He intercedes for His people and reconciles them to God through His sacrifice.

According to Hebrews 2:17, Jesus serves as a merciful and faithful high priest. Unlike the priests of the Old Testament who often failed, Jesus entered the Holy of Holies with His own blood, obtaining eternal redemption for His people (Hebrews 9:12). This intercession is vital because it allows believers to be reconciled with God. Jesus does not only mediate on behalf of His people; He represents the complete fulfillment of the priestly office by being both the sacrifice and the priest, thus securing the salvation and righteousness of all who believe in Him.
