Why is Jesus referred to as our Sabbath?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus is our Sabbath because He provides spiritual rest and fulfillment of the Sabbath by His completed work of redemption.

Jesus is called our Sabbath because He offers the true rest that the Sabbath was meant to symbolize. When Christ declared, 'It is finished,' He completed the work necessary for salvation, removing the burden of trying to earn God's favor through works (John 19:30). Hebrews 4:10 states that those who enter into His rest cease from their own works, just as God did from His. Therefore, Christ as our Sabbath signifies that true rest comes from trusting Him alone for salvation, freeing us from the need for physical observance of the Sabbath day.
