Why is Jesus referred to as the Prince of Peace?

Answered in 2 sources

Jesus is called the Prince of Peace because He reconciles sinners to God and establishes peace in our hearts.

The title 'Prince of Peace' in Isaiah 9:6 highlights Jesus's role in restoring peace between God and humanity. Through His atoning work, He removes the barrier of sin, allowing a relationship with God, and grants us peace within ourselves. As the incarnate God, He embodies true peace — not as the world gives, but a peace that surpasses all understanding. Under His governance, there is an assurance of eternal peace that contradicts the turmoil present in the world. Hence, His incarnation is the ultimate act of God desiring peace with His creation, fulfilling the covenantal promises of peace throughout Scripture.
