Why is knowing Christ as the Good Shepherd important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Knowing Christ as the Good Shepherd is essential because it assures Christians of His loving guidance and care throughout their lives.

Understanding Christ as the Good Shepherd is vital for Christians as it reinforces the foundation of our faith: that we are cared for and loved by God. In our fallen, natural state, we are lost and in need of divine guidance. The Good Shepherd not only brings us into a relationship with Himself but also provides for us abundantly, as seen in His promise of rest and nourishment (Psalm 23). This relationship gives believers comfort amidst trials, knowing that He protects us and will not forsake us. Realizing that we are His sheep offers assurance of our place in His fold and eternal security, ultimately transforming how we live and interact with others in love and service.
