Why is knowing God essential for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Knowledge of God is critical for salvation, as true faith arises from understanding who He is and His work in Christ (John 17:3).

The importance of knowledge in the context of salvation cannot be overemphasized. Jesus states in John 17:3 that eternal life is knowing the only true God. This knowledge allows believers to discern truth from error and understand their dependence on Christ for salvation. Without the revelation of God and an understanding of His attributes, we cannot recognize our need for a Savior or the sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice. The Scripture teaches us that our knowledge may be partial, but in Christ, we find the fullness of God’s revelation—necessary for genuine faith and everlasting life.
