Why is knowing God's righteousness important for Christians?

In Psalm 36, David writes, 'Thy righteousness is like the great mountains.' This emphasizes the immense and unchanging nature of God's righteousness. For Christians, understanding God's righteousness is vital as it reveals His character and moral standard against which all humanity is measured. It serves to humble us by showing that we fall short of God's glory and are in need of His saving grace. This acknowledgment of our sinfulness drives us to Christ, who embodies God's righteousness and provides the only means for justification before God. Therefore, knowing God's righteousness compels us to live in accordance with His will and to pursue holiness.
