Why is knowing I am a Christian important for my faith?

Answered in 1 source

Knowing you are a Christian is crucial for your assurance, joy, and effectiveness in serving God.

The knowledge of being a child of God provides deep assurance and joy to believers. As 1 John 1:4 indicates, assurance of salvation contributes to full joy. Believers who know their standing in Christ are motivated and empowered to share their faith with others. Without that assurance, one cannot serve God effectively, as they would lack the confidence to testify to others about the hope they claim to possess. Furthermore, understanding one's identity in Christ strengthens the believer against doubt and enhances their commitment to living out their faith authentically.
