Why is knowing we are forgiven important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Knowing we are forgiven empowers Christians to love God deeply and live with peace and joy.

Awareness of our forgiveness is crucial for Christians as it cultivates a profound love for Christ. In Luke 7:47, Jesus indicates that the one who has been forgiven much loves much. This love is a direct response to understanding the grace extended through Christ's sacrifice. When we comprehend the depths of our sin and the magnitude of God’s mercy towards us, we are compelled to serve and honor Him out of gratitude rather than obligation. Consequently, an acknowledgment of our forgiveness brings about peace of mind and spirit, as stated in Romans 5:1, 'Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.' This peace fuels a vibrant and fruitful Christian life.
