Why is knowledge without spiritual understanding ineffective?

Answered in 1 source

Knowledge without spiritual understanding leads to pride and does not result in genuine transformation.

The Apostle Paul emphasizes that mere knowledge can lead to arrogance if it is not undergirded by spiritual understanding. In 1 Corinthians 8, he notes that knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. Without the illumination of the Holy Spirit, knowledge remains unproductive, as it does not penetrate the heart to effect true change. Genuine understanding of God's grace humbles us, leading to worship and a desire to reflect Christ in our lives. Thus, we must seek not just to know about God, but to know Him personally and experientially, allowing that knowledge to transform us.
