Why is light significant in the context of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Light signifies the revelation of Christ, bringing salvation to sinners by illuminating their hearts (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Light holds a significant place in the context of salvation because it represents the illumination brought by Christ. In 2 Corinthians 4:6, Paul writes that God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts to give the knowledge of His glory in the face of Jesus Christ. This metaphor illustrates that just as physical light dispels darkness, the spiritual light of Christ dispels the darkness of sin in our hearts, bringing awareness of God's goodness and our need for salvation. The act of God shining His light is indicative of His grace, revealing the truth, and guiding us from spiritual death to life. Without this light, we remain in darkness, unable to comprehend the glory and grace of God.
