Why is looking to Christ for salvation important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Looking to Christ for salvation is crucial because only He fulfills the law and provides true peace with God.

As highlighted in the sermon, salvation is not based on our efforts or choices. Rather, it is found in Jesus Christ, who met all the righteous requirements of the law on our behalf. The Apostle Paul articulates that all our righteousness is as filthy rags, and if our hope lies in our ability to earn favor with God, we are disqualified from truly finding peace. The good news is that through Christ's finished work—His perfect life, sacrificial death, and triumphant resurrection—we have the assurance of justification and peace with God. Romans 5:1 tells us that since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. For Christians, recognizing that our salvation is exclusively through Christ protects us from self-deception and leads us into a fruitful relationship grounded in grace.
