Why is love emphasized in the Christian faith?

Answered in 2 sources

Love is emphasized because it is the greatest commandment and the ultimate evidence of faith.

Love holds a special place in the Christian faith, as it is identified as the greatest of all virtues. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, Paul states, 'And now abideth faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.' Love is deemed the highest principle as it encapsulates the essence of God's nature and serves as the evidence of our faith. A believer's love for one another reflects God's love in our hearts, as seen in 1 John 4:7, where it says, 'Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God.' Hence, love is not only a command but the fulfilling of the law (Romans 13:10) and serves as a distinguishing mark of genuine Christianity.
