Why is love for fellow believers important in Christianity?

Answered in 2 sources

Love for fellow believers is a fundamental evidence of true faith and reflects Christ's love for the church.

In Colossians 1:4, Paul highlights the love that the Colossians have for all the saints as an essential attribute of the Christian faith. This love is not simply an emotion but is active and demonstrated through actions that meet the needs of others within the body of Christ. The importance of love in the Christian community is echoed throughout Scripture, especially in 1 John, where love for one another is presented as a sign of being born of God. True believers should exhibit a supernatural affection for fellow believers, which serves to strengthen the church, testify to the Gospel, and fulfill Jesus' command to love one another as He loved us.
