Why is love important in the Christian life?

Answered in 2 sources

Love is central to the Christian life as it reflects the nature of God and bonds believers together.

Love is foundational in the Christian faith, as it exemplifies the character of God and is the evidence of true discipleship. In both 1 John and 2 John, the Apostle emphasizes that love for one another is a hallmark of genuine belief in Christ. This love is not superficial but is rooted in the truth of the gospel and represents Christ’s love for His people. Furthermore, Jesus Himself indicated that the world would know His disciples by their love for each other (John 13:35). Therefore, love is essential because it fosters relationships within the body of Christ and glorifies God.
