Why is love permanent and enduring in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

Love is permanent because it reflects God's eternal nature and is the greatest of all virtues.

In 1 Corinthians 13:8, Paul states emphatically that 'love never fails.' This permanence of love is rooted in its divine origin; it exemplifies God's enduring commitment to His creation. Unlike prophecies and spiritual gifts, which are temporary and will cease, love's essence is eternal. As believers are called to embody this love, they find assurance and rest in it, knowing that it is a reflection of their relationship with Christ, who is the ultimate expression of love. Therefore, love not only persists through trials but also connects believers to God's everlasting covenant.
